Orbital Mechanics Post #4

Have you heard of Astronomical Units? This is how distances are often measured within our Solar System. 1 AU is the average distance between the center of the earth and the center of the sun. It's an average because of the elliptical path all planets take around the sun.

1 AU is approximately 150 Million Kilometers

Mars is an average distance of 1.524 AU from the sun and Pluto is an average distance of 39.48 AU! It's a little ways out there.
